The Spindles
The Spindles is situated in the village of Manea, 8 miles from March, 7 miles Chatteris, and 16 miles from the famous cathedral city of Ely. There is a railway station, although at present only one train stops mornings and evenings. The Spindles is a comfortable modern house that backs on to open countryside and is in a peaceful and rural setting that lends itself to being a quiet retreat for healing, detoxification and meditation. The Spindles offers an holistic experience in alternative therapies and self healing. The village of Manea has local shops and a post office, a restaurant, and a traditional public house. Close by are the Ouse washes which are now the biggest area of regularly flooding washland in Britain. Nine species of duck, Bewick's and Whooper swans visit the area making it one of the best places in Britain to watch ducks and swans. 5 mins away is Stonea Camp which is the lowest hill fort in Britain as featured on TV's Time Team. Near Stonea Camp is a garden centre and tea room. This area provides a spectacular skyscape (day and night) with uninterrupted views across the Fens. Accommodation can be arranged.
